Missoula Food Bank & Community Center’s mission is to lead the movement to end hunger through advocacy, volunteerism, and healthy food for all. We nourish community.
We are a private, non-profit organization with a 40-year history of filling the hunger gap in Missoula County. In 2020, we served 1 in 4 people countywide.  MFB&CC pursues our mission through direct nutrition program and through advocacy effort that affect the upstream causal issues of food insecurity.

This is a full time (40 hr/wk) exempt position reporting to the organization’s Executive Director.  The Development Director is responsible for MFB&CC’s fundraising work, and supervises development, marketing, and events staff. Weekend and evening work is occasionally required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in non-profit development or other financial resourcing required.
  • At least five years of experience in a senior management position with supervisory responsibilities in a non-profit organization or closely related direct-service operation required.
  • Or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM helpful.

Other Requirements Include:

  • Provides leadership in implementing MFB&CC’s Strategic Plan as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Develop a deep knowledge around the issue of food security, including safety-net programs, causal issues of food insecurity, and local and national statistics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people including other staff, volunteers, clients, donors, social service agencies, businesses and the general public. Communication skills include but are not limited to:
    • Active listening skills with the ability to be reflective and clear in responding to a wide range of situations.
    • Maintaining and communicating professional boundaries in an empathetic way.
    • Leading and managing people with clear direction and kind instruction.
    • Public speaking and presenting
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and detail oriented to support the balance of a wide range of tasks and responsibilities including multi-tasking, prioritizing and delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Be self-motivated, self-directed, and take initiative in performing a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in the operation of common computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, as well as the ability to maintain databases and learn new applications as necessary.
  • Exercise safe workplace policies and procedures and effectively communicate adherence of policies to volunteers and other staff.

 

Specific Job Requirements:

Development

  • Works collaboratively as part of the Directors Team, contributing to high-level decision making.
  • Responsible for MFB&CC’s annual fundraising strategy, generating $2.5 million in operational support through diverse sources including individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and grant funding.
  • With the Executive Director, deepens relationships with Missoula Food Bank & Community Center donors, and cultivates new individual and corporate donors.
  • With staff support, maintain donor stewardship practices, including one-on-one meetings, individualized connections, and other engagement work.
  • With staff support, maintains donor CRM and ensures appropriate acknowledgement of gifts including written thanks, announcement, or public relations.
  • Manages a strong and meaningful asset-based marketing program.
  • Responsible for the success of annual events including Missoula Under Construction, Empty Bowls Full Souls, Can the Cats, and the Holiday Drive.
  • Represents Missoula Food Bank & Community Center with the media, in the public, and on other occasions in absence of the Executive Director.
  • Responsible for MFB&CC’s outreach collateral and messaging including newsletters, appeals, and earned media.
  • Contributes to budget development and accountability.  Part of the Director’s team, contributing to high-level decision-making and responsible for strategic direction of the financial sustainability of the organization.

Supervision

  • Supervises Development Team staff, including Events and Marketing Coordinator, Donor Engagement Coordinator, and Development Assistant positions.
  • Annually evaluates team members.

Software

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook Calendar
  • Adobe Creative Suite helpful, but not required
  • MFB&CC uses Salesforce CRM for donor management. Experience is helpful, but not required.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Position yearly salary is $65,000-$70,000
